Harry A. Wittrien Sr., 88, of Stillwater Township, New Jersey, died peacefully Saturday, June 10, 2017, at his son, Robert's home in Delaware Township, Pennsylvania.

Born in Manhattan, New York, Harry lived in Parsippany and resided in Newton for thirteen years and Williamstown, New York, for 20 years before moving to Stillwater five years ago. He was an Army veteran of World War II and an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He worked in the maintenance department of the Brewerton Post Office in Brewerton, New York, before his retirement at the age of 81. He had previously worked as a Sergeant at the Parsippany Troy Hills Police Department and a Security Guard at the Sussex County Jail. An avid outdoorsman, Harry was a member of the Williamstown VFW.

The son of the late Alfred A. and Meta K. (nee Renken) Wittrien, Harry was also predeceased by his wife, Margarete, on November 14, 1978; his son, Jeffrey S. Wittrien on September 15, 2009; and his brother, Alfred Wittrien on November 6, 1973. He is survived by his eight sons, Harry Wittren, Jr., and wife, Christine, Michael Wittrien and wife, Sandra, Elroy Wittrien and wife, Debbie, Gery Wittrien and companion, Eileen Ibranyi, Alfred Wittrien and wife, Joan, Robert Wittrien, Richard Wittrien and wife, Diane, and Scott Wittrien; four daughters, Christine Steele and husband, Richard, Kathleen Kulisz and husband, Edward, Sr., Donna Piekenbrock and husband, Fred, and Margarete Wittrien and companion, Thomas Gubernard; eighteen grandchildren; and six great-granddaughters.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton. Interment will follow in Newton Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 14, 2017, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
