Kathleen L. Byrnes, 81, of Bushkill, Pennsylvania, died Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at home.

Born in Hoboken, Kathleen lived in the Paulinskill Lake section of Stillwater Township for 14 years before moving to Bushkill in 1987. She was a typist at Selective Insurance Company of America in Branchville for 15 years before her retirement 23 years ago. Active in the community, Kathleen was a former member of the Sussex County Republican Committee, a member of American Legion Post 356 Ladies Auxiliary in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, a member of Newton Memorial Post 5360 VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Newton, and a member of Eagles Aries 1106 Ladies Auxiliary in East Stroudsburg.

The daughter of the late James and Cecelia (nee Reiley) Lydon, Kathleen was also predeceased by six siblings. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, John J. Byrnes of Bushkill; four sons, John J. Byrnes and Donna Hoppes, Thomas James Byrnes and wife, Gail, Michael K. Byrnes and late wife, Cindy (2015), and Douglas A. Byrnes and wife, Courtney; six grandchildren; as well as one sister, Devona Egan.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 11, 2017, at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton. Visitation will be held Sunday,
June 11, 2017, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
