Born in Newark, NJ, Janice was raised in Union, NJ and was a graduate of Union High School where she met her husband, Richard Louis Partl, of 51years. They moved to Fanwood, NJ, in 1963 and lived there for over 30 years where Janice fulfilled her life's ambition of being a mother and raising her family of three. She also worked outside the home as an Administrative Secretary to the Principal at the Terrill Middle School for the Scotch Plains–Fanwood School System and retired after 18 years of service.

Janice was a member of Fanwood Presbyterian Church during her years in Fanwood and then after moving to Manchester, NJ, she became a member of The Presbyterian Church of Toms River. Janice was very active in both churches, serving as a deacon and on various committees.

Janice moved to the Leisure Ridge Adult Community in Manchester, NJ, in 1997 and lived there for almost 20 years where she enjoyed being close to the shore, and where she made dear friends and was active in the life of the community. Janice had been a resident of Bristol Glen in Newton, NJ, for the past two years.

During her lifetime, Janice made many lasting friendships through work, church and in the communities in which she lived. Dear to her heart was her group of special friends that comprised "The Club," a group of close friends from high school that met on a monthly basis for most of their lives.

The daughter of the late Oscar E. and Maude A. (nee Rice) Crafting, Janice was also predeceased by her husband, Richard Louis Partl, on December 1, 2000. She is survived by three children, Jeffrey Partl and wife, Billie, of Wilmington, North Carolina, Kimberly Fleming and husband, Martin, of Fredon Township, and Lizabeth Baliko and husband, John, of Fanwood; five grandchildren, Matthew, Brettlyn, Kyle, Stephanie and Greg; as well as one great-grandchild, Bram.
