Daniel T. Lindo, 87, of Newton, died Thursday, March 2, 2017, in the Harris Health Care Center at Bristol Glen in Newton, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in New York City, New York, Daniel was a longtime resident of Newton, then spent 12 years in Cape May before returning to Newton in 2008. He received his BS from Seton Hall University. A former Vice President for the Morristown and Erie Railroad in Whippany, Daniel retired from the Sussex County Building & Grounds Department. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the NRA.

The son of the late Donald and Louise Lindo, Daniel was also predeceased by his wife, Carol M. Lindo, on April 11, 2016, who was the love of his life. He was also predeceased by his brother, Bobby Lindo and his sister, Francie Lindo. Daniel is survived by his sons, Bernard T. Lindo and wife, Kate, of Newton, Donald J. Lindo and wife, Christine, of Hampton Township, and Daniel C. Lindo and wife, Christy, of Ashland, Virginia; his grandchildren, Ellie, Gracie, Brian, Charlie and Kevin. He is also survived by his brother, Neil Lindo of New Providence, and his niece, Joy.

Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 5, 2017, at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 5, 2017, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 6, 2017, at Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Green Township.
