Robert A. Haberthur, Sr., 73, of Andover Township, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017, at Morristown Medical Center.

Born in Elizabeth, Robert grew up in Wanaque and had been a longtime resident of Sussex County. He also had a home in The Villages in Florida. Robert was a HVAC Technician for Carrier Air Conditioning for 30 years before his retirement in 2006. A member of the Pipefitters Local Union 274, Robert was also a member of the Newton Sons of the American Legion Post #86 as well as a member of the NRA. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.

The son of the late August A. and Mildred (nee Williams) Haberthur, Robert is survived by his wife, Madeline A. (nee Kovalcik); his son, Robert A. Haberthur, Jr. and wife, Rita, of Monroe; his daughters, Loriann Haberthur and husband, Eric Stump, of Mansfield and Kristin Morris and husband, Sean, of Hackettstown; and one granddaughter, Valerie Haberthur. He is also survived by his sister, Carolyn Krouse of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania; five nephews, William Krouse, Jr. and wife, Christie, Michael Krouse and wife, Kay, Daniel Krouse and wife, Jennifer, John Krouse, and Matthew Krouse and wife, Kayo; and several great-nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at Good Shepherd R. C. Church, Route 517, Andover Borough. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 10, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton.
