Nancy T. Zande, 81, of Sparta, died Sunday, February 5, 2017, at home.

Born in Plainfield, Nancy grew up in Plainfield then lived in Westfield before moving to Sparta in 1972. She was a graduate of Holy Trinity High School in Westfield and also graduated as an RN from St. Vincent's Hospital in New York City. Nancy was an operating room nurse at Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield, worked at St. Mary's Hospital in Passaic, and worked at Andover Nursing Home before her retirement.

A member of Our Lady of the Lake R.C. Church in Sparta, Nancy was also a member of Lake Mohawk Golf Club. She was especially supportive of her husband's banking career.

The daughter of the late Frank and Madeline (nee O'Keefe) Thompson, Nancy was also predeceased by her sister, Joan H. Monohan. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Arthur L. Zande, whom she met during her sophomore year of High School and they have been together ever since. She is also survived by three children, Jeff Zande and wife, Mary Ann, of Overland Park, Kansas, Dave Zande and wife, Jeannie, of Sugarloaf, Pennsylvania, and Nancy Z. Homa of Newton; five grandchildren, Tim, Courtney, Jordan, Chelsea and Lexie; as well as three great-grandchildren, Connor, Addison and Corbin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2017, at Our Lady of the Lake R.C. Church, 294 Sparta Avenue, Sparta. Interment will follow in Sparta Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton.
