As a passionate supporter of Law Enforcement, John was a member of the Peace Officers Association. He was also an active parishioner of Immaculate Conception R.C. Church.

Son of the late Timothy and Johanna (nee Lanza) Veltri, John is also predeceased by his sister, Carole Veltri. He is survived by his sisters, Kathy Klingener and Barbara Veltri; his nieces and nephews, Dennis Chaplain, Kim Chaplain Spurlock, James Chaplain, Josiah Chaplain, Sr., Colleen Chaplain Lewis, Stephanie Klingener Schneider, Michael J. Klingener, Natalie Klingener, Tanya Bailey, and Theresa Bailey; as well as many friends.

A visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, January 23, 2017, at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton.
