Luella Mae Murphy, 83, of Hampton Township, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, December 25, 2016, in Compassionate Care Hospice at Saint Clares Hospital in Dover.

Born in Flanders, Mrs. Murphy lived in the Lake Lenape section of Andover Township for 44 years before moving to Hampton Township. She was employed by the Andover Township Police Department as a Crossing Guard on Route 517 in Lake Lenape for over 20 years. Mrs. Murphy was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Kenvil and was also a member of the Sussex County Brain Injury Support Group in Newton.

The daughter of the late Stephen Roy Berry and Anna (nee Flatt) Larsen and husband, Holgar, Mrs. Murphy was also predeceased by her brother, Stephen Berry. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Daniel J. Murphy, Jr.; five children, Maurya Hawley and husband, Harold, of Equinunk, Pennsylvania, Cindy SanPhillip and husband, Frank, of Branchville, Donna VanHaste and husband, Rick, of Andover Township, Regina Sisco and husband, Kurt, of Wantage Township, and Daniel J. Murphy III of Equinunk, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, Heather Miller, Harold Hawley III, Adam Hawley, Rick J. VanHaste, Kory VanHaste, Kristoffer VanHaste; and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia Jordan of Mt. Hope; her brother, Holgar Larsen, Jr., of Lake Hopatcong; many, many wonderful friends; nieces and nephews; as well as Loretta Plock.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, December 30, 2016, at Good Shepherd R.C. Church, Route 517, Andover Borough. Interment will follow in Holy Rood Cemetery in Morristown.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton.
