Hyla June Fellner, 85, of Newton, died Friday, December 23, 2016, at Liberty Towers in Newton.

Daughter to the late Christy and Anne (nee Bracken) Wilson, Hyla was born and raised in the Oranges. She was a resident of Sussex County for most of her life. Hyla worked as an LPN for 30 years at various care facilities, most recently Newton Medical Center and Valley View Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Newton.

Hyla was an active member in the community serving as a Newton Housing Authority Commissioner and on the Newton Election Board. She was a member of the Newton Seniors, Primetime Seniors and the Sunshine Singers. Hyla was dedicated to the First Baptist Church of Newton and active in their Missionary Guild; she was also a long-time member of the Parsippany Volunteer Ambulance Squad.

Hyla was predeceased by her husband, Douglas Fellner. She is survived by her children, Linda Larick, John Larick and wife, Judy, Benjamin "Ricky" Larick Jr, and wife, Kirsten, Susan Hoppe and husband, Christopher, and Melissa Bramble and husband, Michael; her son-in-law, Fred Gill; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; as well as 3 nephews.

A Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Newton, 110 Main St, Newton. The viewing will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, December 26, 2016 at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St, Newton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Newton, 110 Main St, Newton, NJ 07860. Arrangements are under the direction of Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St, Newton. Online condolences may be made at www.smithmccrackenfuneral.com.
