Russell McCue, 90, of Andover Township, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 19, 2016, at Newton Medical Center.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Russell was raised in Stockholm, where he lived before moving to Andover Township in 1955. He was a World War II United States Navy veteran and also served during the Korean Conflict. Russell was employed as the maintenance supervisor at Holland Manufacturing Company in Succasunna, retiring in 1996 after 38 years of service. An active member of the First United Methodist Church of Newton for over 55 years, Russell was a member of the Administrative Council for 45 years, served as Chairman of the Board for over 30 years, was active in the Come Together Club, was a former volunteer for the Sussex County Interfaith Hospitality Network, and was a volunteer at Manna House. He was also a member of the Greater Andover Seniors, the American Legion, the United States Power Squadron, the N.R.A., the N.J. R&P Club, and a member of the former Fredon Marksmen for 20 years.

The son of the late Russell and Ellen Corrola McCue, Russell was also predeceased by an aunt, Ethel McCue Smith, with whom he lived during his childhood; and his son, George Huff, on July 10, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lois Bailey McCue; three daughters, Terry Thonnerieux and husband, Michael, of Port Charlotte, Florida; Pamela Milone of Newton, and Karen Bove-Quick of Neptune City; son-in-law, Richard Milone, of Myrtle Beach, SC; six grandchildren, Michael Thonnerieux and wife, Sarah, Amy Thonnerieux, Erica Munoz and husband, Matt, Tracy Conn and husband, Brooks, Rebecca Schick, and husband, Earl IV, and Austin Bove; as well as seven great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Elliott, Colin, Claire, Ethan, Madelyn and Braelon. He is also survived by his extended family and many wonderful friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 23, 2016, at the First United Methodist Church of Newton, 111 Ryerson Avenue, Newton. Interment will follow Deckertown Union Cemetery in Wantage. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2016, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton.
