Margit Tobiasen, 92, of Branchville passed away peacefully on November 11, 2016 at home with her family by her side.

She was born in Brooklyn to the late Peder and Edvardine (nee Jakobsen) Olsen, Margit was raised in Norway, her family moved back to Brooklyn just in time for her to attend Bay Ridge High School. She worked a Secretary for the Norwegian Consulate in Manhattan for five years among other jobs in downtown Manhattan. Margit was a wonderful mom to her two daughters and enjoyed being a homemaker. Traveling back and forth to Norway during the summer was always a highlight enjoyed by all.

Margit was a longtime member of the 59th Street Lutheran Brethren Church in Brooklyn. She had a passion for crocheting, knitting and needle point; staying true to her artistic nature she also enjoyed painting and photography.

Margit is predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Torolf Tobiasen. She is survived by her daughters, Turid and her husband Knut Jakobsen and Carla and her husband, Max Andersen; her grandchildren, Peter and Sara Jakobsen, Cory and Kathleen Jakobsen, Julie and Rob Strong, Kristie and Arne Olsen, Leif and Laurie Andersen, Tor and Nicole Andersen, Erik and Sarah Andersen, and Mark and Theresa Andersen; and her great-grandchildren, Gunnar, Morgan, Bjorn, Carlee, Anya, Greta, Elsa, Elin, Lucy, Max, Kate, Luke, Emma, Lily, Hanna, Wesley and Brady.

Memorial Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at the Lafayette Federated Church, 180 Rt 15 N, Lafayette.

Memorial Donations may be made to the Lafayette Federated Church, 180 Rt 15 N, Lafayette, NJ 07848. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wood Funeral Home, 16 Main St, Branchville. Online condolences may be offered at www.woodfuneralhome.net.
