Dale W. Elston, 81, of Green Township, died Monday, October 31, 2016, at Karen Ann Quinlan Home for Hospice in Fredon Township.

Born in Newton on January 6, 1935, Dale was a lifelong resident of Sussex County. He lived in Newton for his first ten years, was raised in Allamuchy for
the next nine years, and had been a resident of Green Township for the remainder of his life. A professional truck driver for over 60 years, Dale worked for Cooper Jarrett Trucking in Dover for 20 years and Glory Trucking in Dover for 30 years. He enjoyed the road and all those he met along the way. Dale also enjoyed truck shows and antique auctions, where he made many friends.

The son of the late Walter Albert and Nina (nee Savacool) Elston, Dale was also predeceased by a brother, Brandon Elston, and a sister, Iris Carriera. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carolyn (nee Litts) Elston; his son, David Elston and wife, Anne; his daughter, Dawn Housel and husband, Bill; his grandson, Thomas Elston; and his granddog, Teddy. He is also survived by his two sisters, Lois Dimiceli and husband, George, and Jane Traylor and husband, John; his brother, Bruce Elston and wife, Noreen; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2016, at Tranquility Cemetery.
