Mary LaBeaume Hall, 97, of Middleville, passed away at her home on Monday, September 19, 2016.

Mary was born on March 1, 1919, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Melville and Louise (nee Gardner) Hitchcock. In 1927, Mary moved to Ville d'Avary, France, where her father founded a school for boys. In 1929, the family moved to Deerfield, Massachusetts, where Melville was director of foreign languages. Mary graduated from the Bement School and Stoneleigh Prospect Hill School. After moving to New York City and graduating from the Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School, Mary worked for the International Red Cross for several years. Mary later moved to Sparta, and was employed by the Houghton Company, where she met her future husband, Edmond Noel LaBeaume. They were married in 1946 and moved to Middleville, where they raised four children until the death of Edmond in June, 1969.

Mary was a devoted mother and homemaker and a beloved member of her community. Mary touched the lives of many people through her willingness to listen to those who had a story to tell. She was the perfect hostess, loved to laugh, and was the life of any party.
She took great joy in gardening, knitting, reading and decorating her home with antiques. She later opened an antique shop in the barn behind her house where she could be found restoring pieces to sell in her shop. She delighted in taking trips to the Pacific Northwest where she visited her son, Peter, and his family. She traveled many times to France to see her youngest son, David, and traveled throughout England, Scotland and Norway researching her ancestral past.

Mary was predeceased by her first husband, Edmond Noel LaBeaume, and her second husband, John M.T. Hall. She is survived by her daughters, Louise vanderHaeghen and her husband, Steven; Michele Manning and her husband, Peter; her sons, Peter LaBeaume and his wife, Jane, and David LaBeaume; her grandchildren, Eric and Marc vanderHeaghen, Spencer and William Manning, and Anna and David LaBeaume; her stepchildren, John G. Hall Jr. and Charles E. Hall; her sister, Suzanne Clothier; and beloved nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to join the family for a celebration of Mary's life on Saturday, November 26th, at the North Shore House, Swartswood, from 4 to 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Historical Society of Stillwater Township, P.O. Box 238, Stillwater, N.J. 07875 or Project Self-Sufficiency, 127 Mill Street, Newton, N.J. 07860.
