Cornelio Odorizzi, 87, of Hampton Township, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at the Karen Ann Quinlan Home for Hospice in Fredon.

Born in Valdi Non, Trentino, Italy, to the late Ermete and Maria nee (Torrazzani) Odorizzi, Cornelio lived in Italy for the first 27 years of his life before relocating to the United States, where he started his family. He served in the Italian Army as an Alpine Soldier from 1950 to 1952. Cornelio worked as a Mason for NJDOT for 24 years before his retirement.

Cornelio was an avid gardener and orchardist; he could frequently be found on walks in the woods in search of wild mushrooms. He enjoyed cooking, particularly Tyrolean cuisine, and he loved all animals, especially his Lucy(s). An active member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church in Swartswood, Cornelio was also a member of their Knights of Columbus Chapter.

Cornelio is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Ida Odorizzi; his children, Marie Odorizzi Clasen and Tim, Christina Odorizzi, Josephine Odorizzi Caccavale and Richard, Frank Odorizzi and Jane, Albina Odorizzi Voris and Dean, Paul Odorizzi and Margaret, Michele Odorizzi Roberts and Christian, and Lorraine Odorizzi Cavanaugh and Steven; 17 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, September 23, 2016, at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton, with a Knights of Columbus service at 8:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2016, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church, 203 Newton Swartswood Road, Swartswood.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, 99 Sparta Ave, Newton, NJ 07860.
