Elizabeth Jane Dubel, 81, of Fredon Township, died Sunday, September 18, 2016, at Newton Medical Center.

Born and raised in Boonton, Elizabeth lived in Franklin for 30 years before moving to Fredon Township 27 years ago. She was a secretary in Medical Records at Newton Hospital before her retirement in 1989 and had previously worked at Alexander Linn Hospital in Sussex. Elizabeth enjoyed gardening, needlepoint, cross-stitch, and reading.

The daughter of the late Wilbur and Elizabeth V. (nee Smith) Brown, Elizabeth is survived by her husband of 61 years, Samuel Dubel; two children, Lori A. Dubel and husband, Jeff Haag, of Bernville, Pennsylvania, and Mark J. Dubel and wife, Laurie, of Fredon Township; seven grandchildren, Laura V., Adam S., Brian M., Sean J., Christopher M., Daniel M., and Juleah R.; four great-grandchildren, Yasmine E., Nova Z., Stella E., and Lucas J; as well as her beloved cat, Chloe.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton. Interment will follow in First Reformed Church Cemetery in Pompton Plains. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 an 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
