NEWTON, NEW JERSEY – Dorothy Margaret (McFadden) Bellush, 86, of Hampton Township, died Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at Bristol Glen in Newton, after a short illness

Born in Lindsay, Ontario, Canada, on October 30, 1929, Dorothy graduated with her Registered Nurse certification from the St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Peterborough, Ontario in 1951. After various Canadian hospital assignments, she moved to Morristown, New Jersey to work as a surgical nurse at Morristown Memorial Hospital in 1953. Dorothy married Joseph E. Bellush of Whippany, New Jersey, in 1955, and supported the many residential and commercial real estate ventures of the family business in Los Gatos, California, and Morris and Sussex Counties, New Jersey. She loved her snowbird home of Rincon, Puerto Rico, since 1981.

Foremost, she was the adored mother of five children, Joel (Kathy) of Branchville, Janet (Paul Codispoti) of Stony Brook, Long Island, Jason (Nancy) of Webster, New York, James (Susan) of Hoover, Alabama, and Jonathan (Nancy Cristoforo) of Parlin, New Jersey. Later she doted on and welcomed her many loving grandchildren to her homes in New Jersey and Puerto Rico including Elizabeth and James, Steven and Alex, Rebecca (Shannon Coughlin), Andrew and Anna, and Frank, Timothy, Joseph and Courtney. With more love to give than most, Dorothy was also blessed with "bonus" grandchildren, Daryl Rogers, Henry Anthony, and Andrew (Angela), Daniel and Matthew Codispoti. She is survived by her brother, George McFadden.

Over the course of her full life, Dorothy supported many charitable organizations and activities including the Junior Woman's Club of Newton, PEO, and the American Red Cross. Always an avid sports fan, Dorothy supported both the Booster Club of Newton High School and served as President of the Booster Club at Kittatinny Regional High School.

Predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Joseph E. Bellush, Dorothy will also join her parents in the house of the Lord, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert H. McFadden, her brother, John McFadden, and her sister, Janet (McFadden) Meneely, in addition to her many friends and relatives gained through her amazing smile and personality over the years.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2016, at the First Presbyterian Church, 54 High Street, Newton, New Jersey. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 9, 2016, at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers….never mind…Dorothy liked flowers. But she would also like to encourage giving to Newton Medical Center, 175 High Street, Newton, NJ 07860 and Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, 99 Sparta Avenue, Newton, NJ 07860.
