Katherine V. Murphy, "Ginger" 69, of Hampton Township, joined her family in Heaven August 16, 2016, at the Karen Ann Quinlan Home for Hospice, Fredon.
Born in Englewood, Ginger grew up in Cliffside Park. She graduated St. Cecilia High School in 1964. Shortly after marrying Walter J Murphy Jr, they relocated to Hampton Twp. Ginger had been employed at Jonathan Logan Clothing Company and then the Visiting Homemaker Service in Frankford before devoting her time to her family as a homemaker. She was an avid reader, especially mysteries, loved doing crossword puzzles, and particularly enjoyed the sunshine in Cape Cod, Mass.
Ginger is survived by her husband of 47 years, Walter J. Murphy Jr.; her son, Walter P Murphy of Barre, VT; her sisters, Veronica Board and her husband, Edward of Monroe, CT, and Barbara Krajick and her husband, Frank of Dumont, NJ and her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Salvatore P. and Katherine B. Gentile; and her brother Fr. Roger M. Gentile.
Services and interment at Northern New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton.
