Joseph S. Mecca, 73, of Green Township, died peacefully on Friday, July 29, 2016, at Morristown Medical Center.

Born in Newark, Joseph was raised in Dunmore, Pennsylvania, and moved to Sussex County 30 years ago. He was United States Air Force veteran and received his Bachelors from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Joseph was a manager/systems analyst for NECA in Whippany before his retirement 20 years ago. He was a member of Good Shepherd R.C. Church in Andover Borough.

The son of the late Joseph and Alice (nee Norvillas) Mecca, Joseph is survived by his wife of 47 years, Nancy (nee Chesnavich); his son, Brian Mecca and wife, Sheri; his grandchildren, Alexandra and Brian, Jr.; and his loving dogs, Trixie and Willie. He is also survived by his siblings, Robert, Kathy and her husband, Norman, Donald and his wife, Nancy, and Charlene and her husband, Brian; many loving nieces and nephews; as well as his dear brother-in-law, Robert Chesnavich and wife, Beverly.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at Good Shepherd R.C. Church, Route 517, Andover Borough. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
